Bonnie Hunter’s Celtic Solstice Mystery – Inklingo Clue 06a

Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice Mystery   WELCOME BACK, DETECTIVES!

BONNIE’S VERY VERSATILE SHAPES

I want to show you how versatile the Celtic Solstice shapes are! It is a great shape collection.

Even if you are not making Bonnie’s design (for some crazy reason) I still think you will love these shapes.

Inklingo Quilt with Star Points

Simple shapes from Celtic Solstice Clue # 1 (includes video).

Inklingo Star Points

There are so many ways to use these triangles!

Inklingo Four Winds Quilt

The parallelograms are my favorites!

Inklingo Four Winds

Four Winds (Beyer 146-7)

This is a lovely 9-inch block with the shapes in Celtic Solstice.

Inklingo Ribbon Quilt

The Ribbon Quilt is a stunning design to showcase special fabrics.

Can you imagine this with all of the squares fussy cut (fussy printed)? (We LOVE fussy cutting with Inklingo! See the Top Ten Tutes and Inklingo videos on YouTube!)

Inklingo Ribbon Quilt Block

Ribbon Quilt (Beyer 146-6)

This is another 9-inch block with the shapes in Celtic Solstice.

There are many quilt blocks that use parallelograms.

Do you have Jinny Beyer’s Quilter’s Album of Patchwork Patterns? This book belongs in your sewing room! It is a great source of inspiration for me.

Inklingo Flock of Geese Quilt

Two blocks alternating.

Inklingo Flock of Geese and Yankee Puzzle Quilt

Flock of Geese (Beyer 73-11) and Yankee Puzzle (Beyer 68-5)

These are both 6-inch blocks with Bonnie’s Celtic Solstice shape collection.

Inklingo Shooting Star Quilt

More parallelograms, squares, and triangles—all in Bonnie’s Celtic Solstice shape collection.

Inklingo Shooting Star

Shooting Star (Beyer 70-5)

Aren’t you glad Bonnie included parallelograms?

Inklingo Patch me if you can Quilt

Another quilt with alternating 6-inch blocks.

Patch me if you can and Shooting Star

Shooting Star (Beyer 70-5) and Patch Me If You Can (Beyer 68-9)

Inklingo Star of the Milky Way Quilt

Inklingo Star of the Milky Way (Beyer 64-7) with Whirligig (Beyer 68-8)

Inklingo Star of the Milky Way

Another 6-inch block with Inklingo.

Cathi at Quilt Obsession and Jillian at Dakota Essence are both making Star of the Milky Way Quilts with Inklingo.

The variations are endless.  Literally. I am only showing a few.

Inklingo 6 inch blocks

There are more 6-inch blocks on the Inklingo website too.

Do you like to design your own quilts? Inklingo makes it easy. Each shape collection includes illustrations showing how much fabric you need.

The shapes in Celtic Solstice are easy to work with in Electric Quilt too. Many of them are already in the Block Library. All of these blocks are Easy Draw. Set up your grid for 1.5-inch units to make 3, 6, 9, or 12-inch blocks.

Free Diamond Triangles Square Shape Collection

Love the lines. Quilt more!

ARE YOU READY TO LEARN HOW TO PRINT ON FABRIC?

Please follow the Quick Start Guide on the website!

I always recommend starting with the FREE  Diamond/Triangle/Square Shape Collection, so there are no surprises when you buy something. The first chapter of The Inklingo Handbook is included with the free shapes! See pages H5-H48.

Bonnie’s Celtic Solstice Shape Collection includes all of the shapes for all of the clues.

  3. Thank you Linda for these great ideas. I find it’s always easier to think of the ‘usual’ blocks with some of the half square triangles and squares, but these blocks showcasing the parallelogram are stunning. This shape collection has turned out to be one of my favorites.

  4. The parallelograms are worth the price of the collection, whether on sale or regular price, all on their own. The possibilities are, as you said, absolutely endless. And with the fabulous technique you taught in Clue 2 about adding HSTs to them, there is absolutely no need to worry about working with stretchy bias edges. Just loads of continuous stitching opportunities and fun and gazillions of design opportunities.

  5. I can only echo what you have said in the post.
Love that you always show several different ways to use the collections you design.
Thanks for all your hard work and can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!
