On-Point Basket Quilt

When I set baskets on point like this, I also use the On-Point shape collection to print the squares and the triangles for the corners (HST) and edges (QST).

The 4.5 and 6-inch baskets can look wonderful with any other 4.5 and 6-inch blocks like stars, log cabin, and others.

Basket quilt blocks can be used in many ways but some quilters hesitate because of the handles.

Inklingo gives you a choice—appliqué OR pieced handles on your basket quilt blocks.

Even when I machine piece the rest of the basket, I usually hand piece the handles, but it is possible to sew the handl on the 6-inch Basket by machine.

I think you will want to try the pieced option too—even if you normally prefer appliqué.

  • Easier than appliqué for some quilters.
  • Simple preparation.
  • Curves that are easy to cut and easy to sew. (Rotary cut or scissors cut)
  • Design options include having a different fabric under the handle,
    so the basket can be full of flowers—or something else!

Printing the shapes on fabric gives us more flexibility and better results.

Print the handle outline on the back of the fabric for appliqué OR print 3 shapes on the fabric to piece the handle.
